Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18.
The course will teach you how to apply the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE):
• Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
• Listen nonjudgmentally.
• Give reassurance and information.
• Encourage appropriate professional help.
• Encourage self-help and other support strategies.
This course is for adults who work with youth, including teachers, school staff, coaches, camp counselors, youth group leaders, and parents. It will be a blended learning experience with participants completing a 2 hour, self-paced online course and then participating in two live 2 hour virtual trainings. Online links will be provided to registered participants. All participants will receive a certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid.*
