A Matter of Balance: Rockland

Free

with Community Health

Calendar Next available session starts Sep 30, 2025 at 1:30 pm, runs for 10 weeks

Join staff from the Community Health team for an eight-week Matter of Balance series located at & co-sponsored by the Rockland Public Library.

Many older adults experience a fear of falling. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. A Matter of Balance is a program designed for community dwelling adults age 60 and older to increase activity levels and reduce the fear of falling. If you are concerned about falls, have sustained falls in the past, or are interested in improving your flexibility, balance and strength, this class is for you.

*Registration is required due to a limited number of seats available in this class.*

Please call (207) 301-3950 with any questions.

THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON OCTOBER 14TH AND NOVEMBER 11TH!

Happy Wanderers Guided Hike: October

Free

with Community Health and Coastal Mountains Land Trust

Calendar Next available session starts Oct 2, 2025 at 10 am

Join Coastal Mountains Land Trust and MaineHealth Center for Health Improvement, a Community Health department at Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals for a Happy Wanderers Hike at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, at Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s (MCHT) Clark Island Preserve in St. George.

All are welcome!

We will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 2nd for a walk with MCHT’s exceptional Regional Stewardship Manager, Kirk Gentalen, who will share the island’s ecological insights.  FYI, this month we will be focused on observing nature sightings and less on accomplishing mileage.  We may end up wandering a mile or less, depending on how many birds, plants, and mammal signs we stop to admire.

Parking is limited, so we will be meet at the overflow parking area .75 miles before the island.  Coastal Mountain Land Trust will be providing rides to the trailhead in their Land Trust truck.

Happy Wanderers hikes are led by Coastal Mountains Land Trust and Maine Health’s Community Health Program staff.

Hiking footwear and plenty of water are encouraged.

No pets, please.

This group meets at trailheads throughout Knox and Waldo counties, usually on the first Thursday of each month.
